After downloading the ISO and burning the CD, Ubuntu took fewer than three minutes from start to desktop 'on the fly' without installing the operating system. Really? Yes, and the web browser is fast and according to many Mozilla fans, safe.

Some Windows repairs are possible if you can learn how to access or 'mount' Windows partitions, and learning Linux is a breeze with Jaunty Jackalope, the newest Ubuntu release.
